Once I finished a nurse aide training program and passed the CNA examination, do I need to have a copy of my certificate to work? When you are hired for a nurse aide position the employer will usually ask to make a copy of your certificate which will be kept in your personal file. But remember that is not enough to have a nurse aide certificate in order to secure a CNA job, you must also make sure that your name is listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry under the active status. A nurse aide certificate is useless unless your status is active on the registry. Having an active status means that your name is listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry and you have no findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of a client's property. Furthermore, an active status CNA has been employed for at least eight hours as a nurse aide within the previous twenty four months.
