Not every nurse aide training program in Texas provides the quality of education you desire and deserve. When choosing a CNA program try to speak with certified nurse aides who have graduated from the program, and look out for certain characteristics that spell trouble. Stay away from CNA courses that have the following: a large number of students; very few exposure opportunities to the duties of a nurse aide; teaching methods that are not helpful such as inadequate videotapes or presentations; instructors that make extended use of medical and technological jargon instead of terms easy to understand and remember; lack of instruction in areas such as communication; negative course feedback from nurse aide students; insufficient hours dedicated to hands-on practice. Do your homework and research before choosing a nurse aide program and do not feel intimidated to ask for help and feedback from experienced, certified nurse assistants.
