Nurse aide training and competency evaluation programs (NATCEP) in the state of Texas are courses approved by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). These CNA classes have been specifically designed to provide the training and testing of nurse aides. Those who complete a such a training program learn to perform the services and bear the responsibilities of a nurse assistant. A graduate of a NATCEP program is granted the right to become certified as a nurse aide and work in a nursing facility. Every nurse aide training and competency examination program provides at least seventy five hours of training, with fifty one hours being spent in the classroom and twenty four hours dedicated to clinical practice. The Department of Aging and Disability Services is the entity responsible for creating and updating the nurse aide curriculum followed by every nurse aide training program in Texas.
