The Nurse Aide program offered by Corridor Health Education Center is a comprehensive course designed to teach students the skills and abilities essential to provide basic care to patients and residents in hospitals and long term care facilities. Graduates of this program will learn how to perform basic first aid, CPR, how to take vital signs, how to apply the elements of basic nutrition in meal planning, how to follow infection control measures, as well as how to apply proper body mechanics in bed making, lifting, and turning patients. Graduates of this nurse aide program will receive a certificate of completion and may find entry-level employment as a nurse aide with hospitals and nursing homes. To qualify for this program you should be at least 18 years of age or 17 years of age and have written consent from a parent or gaurdian, show proof of secondary education such as a high school diploma, GED or Wonderlic Basic Skills Test with a verbal score of 200 and quantitative score of 210. The Nurse Aide course offered by Corridor Health Education Center takes either four weeks if you attend days and evenings or five weekends to complete.

Did you know that PCI Health Training Center in Richardson offers four comprehensive medical certificate programs and health care training clases? PCI Health Training Center offers a Psychiatric Assistant program, a Medical Assistant program, a Medical Office Assistant program and a Patient Care Technician program. The Medical Assistant program prepares you to work as an entry-level Medical Assistant. Upon graduation you can choose to work in one of the following specialty areas: Administrative Office Assistant, Clinic Assistant, Medical Office Manager, Phlebotomist, and Physical Therapy Technician. Upon graduation from the Medical Assistant Program you will be able to check vital signs, assist in physical examinations, electrocardiograms (EKG), and perform basic medical laboratory tests. The Psychiatric Assistant Program prepares you to work as an entry-level Mental Health Technician, Psychiatric Assistant, or Psychiatric Attendant in a mental health care facility.
The Medical Office Assistant Program prepares you to work as an entry-level Medical Front Office Assistant, medical office receptionist, insurance biller or collector, appointment scheduler, or medical office records clerk in healthcare centers, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and medical billing offices. The Patient Care Technician course prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, or long-term care facility. Upon graduation you will be able to check vital signs, assist in medical examinations, perform electrocardiograms, basic laboratory procedures, and phlebotomy.
